Programme outcome
First train outlet, section 2; 19 September–24 October 2019
Treated water from one section · comparable influent characteristics on the sampling dates
Initial situation
An operating treatment facility handling approximately 27,000 m³/day. The programme aimed to improve treated-water quality, process accumulated organic matter and eliminate odour at the sludge beds.
Actions taken
BIOFOX was introduced into the operating system on 5 September 2019. Treated-water quality was monitored by section. Sludge-bed treatment formed a separate part of the programme.
Application results
In the first train, section 2, COD fell from 101 to 38.8 mg/L and BOD₅ from 30.6 to 4.3 mg/L. Ammonium and suspended solids also decreased. Unpleasant odours at the treated sludge beds disappeared completely.
| Parameter | 19 September 2019 | 24 October 2019 |
|---|---|---|
| COD, mg/L | 101 | 38.8 |
| BOD₅, mg/L | 30.6 | 4.3 |
| Ammonium ion, mg/L | 13.8 | 2.44 |
| Suspended solids, mg/L | 28 | 4 |
Site and period
First-train, section-2 outlet readings from 19 September to 24 October 2019. Influent characteristics were approximately comparable on the sampling dates. Reductions are calculated from treated-water concentrations in this section. On-site measurements confirmed the disappearance of odours at the sludge beds.
Unpleasant odours disappeared.
Over five weeks, sludge beds covering 4.5 hectares and approximately 76,500 m³ of organic material were treated. Unpleasant odours disappeared completely after treatment. On-site measurements confirmed the result.
Second complex. A year of change.
